How to replace the rear trunk latch on Chevrolet Cavalier?

Mark the location of the latch on the compartment lid with grease pencil before replacement. Take off the lock cable parts and pry open the cable door on top of the release box to access and free the remote cable wires. Begin by taking off both pieces of the remote release cable if present. Then detach the bolts holding the latch assembly. Place the latch assembly at its marked alignment location, then screw in its bolts and tighten them to 6 N.m (53 lb in). Clip the remote release cable into the top of the lock release box only when the system is installed. Finish the installation process by putting on the lock cable assembly.
