For instance, the Hall Effect and magnetoresistive sensors are very good in measuring static magnetic fields and at the same time, optical sensors provide accurate edge detection. The Chevrolet Cavalier Crankshaft Position Sensor Reliable due to its sturdy design, the heat and vibration causes this Crankshaft Position Sensor to stand out in the auto market. Since the car's cranks position sensor is known to be one of the most durable and reliable parts of the car the Chevrolet Cavalier helps not only increase the performance of the car but also help to bring safety to the drivers and passengers of the car which in the end makes the Chevrolet Cavalier well respected compact car.

Chevrolet Cavalier Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Crankshaft Position Sensor on Chevrolet Cavalier?
    A:
To service and repair the Crankshaft Position Sensor firstly install a scan tool and monitor power train control module for dtcs. If the following other dtcs exist, check against the applicable dtc that caused it. Choose the crankshaft position (CKP) variation learn function on the scan tool and monitor the fuel cut-off of the engine. Follow the scan tool's instructions: block the drive wheels, set the parking brake of the vehicle, cycle the ignition from off to on, apply and hold the brake pedal, start and idle the engine, deactivate the a/c, and switch the transmission of the vehicle to the park (A/T) for the automatic transmission format or switch the transmission to neutral (M/T) for manual transmission format. The scan tool will check for activities of ckp sensor, cmp sensor, and engine coolant temperature (ECT); if the ect is too cool, idle the engine until it warms up to the right temperature. Turn on the ckp system variation learn procedure on the scan tool and during doing so release the throttle as soon as possible once the engine has started to decelerate, thereby allowing the control of the engine to return to the operator. Gradually increase the engine speed to that observed rpm and throttle release when fuel cut-off is achieved. The status of the scan tool will show "learn status: learned this ignition." if the message does not appear and no more dtcs are set, check for engine mechanical symptoms. If there is a dtc, refer to dtc list for the relevant dtc. Lastly, shut off the ignition immediately after achieving the learn procedure for 30 seconds.
  • Q: How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor on Chevrolet Cavalier?
    A:
To remove the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor, first unplug the battery and jack up your vehicle. In case necessary, take off the front air deflector and the Starter. Now disconnect the ckp sensor electrical connector, remove the ckp sensor bolt as well as the ckp sensor itself. Check the ckp sensor o-ring and grease it using a mineral-based grease before carefully inserting the ckp sensor into the block. Install the ckp sensor bolt with the torque of 8 n.m (71 lb in), and reconnect ckp sensor electrical connector. Reinstall the Starter and the front air deflector if it was taken out earlier. Reduce the vehicle, reconnect the battery, and run the ckp system variation learn procedure.
