  Begin the Brake Master Cylinder overhaul by taking out the unit from your vehicle and fix the mounting flange in the bench vise. Ensure easy access to the rear of the main Piston. You must clean the area surrounding the reservoir cap before you take off its components to check for damage that requires replacement of affected parts. Position a smooth rounded tool inside the cylinder bore then push down on the primary Piston with it to detach both the Piston retainer and assembly. Introduce filtered air through the front port and trigger the secondary Piston plus the primary and secondary seals and return spring to exit from the outlet. Take out the primary Piston parts including the Piston component, retainer, and seals from the secondary Piston. Clean all parts of the master cylinder including secondary Piston and return spring while inspecting for defect. If any damage found replace the master cylinder assembly. Insert filtered environment air into cleaned components before treating the master cylinder bore with dot-3 brake fluid from a sealed container. Use delco supreme ii brake fluid received from gm part numbers 12377967 and 992667 or equivalent formats. Install the new primary seal and retainer together with the new secondary seal onto the secondary Piston and position the lubricated return spring and secondary Piston installation into the cylinder bore before placing the lubricated new primary Piston unit. A smooth tool lets you push down the primary Piston to fit the new Piston retainer before you reconnect the master cylinder reservoir and replace the cap and diaphragm. After that, put the master cylinder back into the vehicle.
