Begin fuel pump replacement by removing the Fuse and waiting until the engine stalls before cranking for ten seconds to release fuel pressure. First disconnect the negative battery then drain engine coolant and unplug the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector while removing the air intake tube from the
Throttle Body as well as the idle air control (IAC) valve connector and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) connector and engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor connector and heater inlet hose from the cylinder head. Remove all vacuum hoses which include the surge tank coolant hose at the Throttle Body and those routed through the Fuel Pressure Regulator and
Brake Booster. Remove the Throttle Body cable followed by the fuel injector rail and injectors assembly while also removing the alternator adjusting bolt and alternator
Drive Belt and both the alternator adjusting bracket bolt and Intake Manifold support bracket bolts to detach the Intake Manifold with its gasket. After cleaning the mating areas of the cylinder head and Intake Manifold install the new gasket followed by the Intake Manifold while tightening the retaining bolts to 25 n.m at 18 lb ft according to their installation order. Bolts connecting the upper part of the Intake Manifold support bracket should be torqued to 25 n.m (18 lb ft), while the lower bolt securing it to the engine block requires a torque of 40 n.m (30 lb ft). Join the
Fuel Rail to its injectors while installing the throttle cable along with vacuum lines and heater inlet hose and surge tank coolant hose and alternator adjusting bracket bolts with a torque of 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Before completing the installation replace the Drive Belt and alternator adjusting bolt while linking all sensors including ect and iat to their corresponding connectors. Also connect the iac valve and tps then attach the powertrain control module (PCM)/engine control module (ECM) ground terminal to the Intake Manifold. Reinstall the fuel pump Fuse before connecting the negative
Battery Cable and refilling the engine cooling system.
