- Q: How to Replace and Repair an Antenna Cable for a Digital Radio for Digital Radio on Cadillac XLR?A:The first step to replace the Digital Radio Antenna Cable requires access to antenna cable connectors by opening the trunk area cloth cover before cutting both ends off the antenna cable at the digital receiver location. First unfasten the right front IP closeout panel while removing the right front carpet retainer followed by soft release of the right side door manual release lever that you should place aside. Start by taking out the right side lock pillar trim and pinpoint where the harness passes through the plastic pillar door cutout before you can pull back this seal. You should first pull back the seal before disconnecting the digital antenna connector and finally cutting the body side connector from the system. After removing the left front carpet retainer and parking brake assembly move to the left side where you will cut off the body side connector from the harness. You should run a mechanic's wire behind the IP/center console and attach the left side cable end to the wire after pulling through to the left IP while keeping cable routing the same as original. Make a passage for the new connector through the plastic seal of the left side pillar to door pass-through before reconnecting it and applying tie straps for secure placement of the new antenna cable beneath the left side of the dash. Perform the mirror sequence on the right side while advancing the new connector through the plastic seal then reconnecting it before securing both ends. Direct the new antenna cable through the left side of the body while keeping it on the same track as the previous cable until it reaches the digital receiver. Reinstallation requires the parking brake assembly followed by the left front carpet retainer and right side lock pillar trim, right front carpet retainer, right side door manual release lever, and right side IP closeout panel.
