How to replace the rear trunk latch on Cadillac Seville?

The first step is to open the rear compartment and take off the trim panel from the rear compartment lid. gently push the locking tab on the retainer, then pull it out of the 't' slot to take off the interior release handle. Take the lock cylinder latch release cable off the rear compartment lid lock cylinder and then press in the locking tabs on each side of the lock cylinder to separate the cable. Take off the electrical connector from the rear compartment lid latch and take out the bolts supporting the latch on the rear compartment lid. Take the rear compartment lid latch and its release cable out from the vehicle. When putting it back together, set the rear compartment lid latch on the lid and fasten it with the bolts, turning them to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Attach the electrical wiring to the rear compartment lid latch, put the lock cylinder release cable in place, and install the interior release handle onto the lid. After all, fasten the trim panel onto the rear compartment lid and make sure the rear compartment is closed.
