The Brake Caliper Bracket replacement process on the 1500 series requires vehicle lifting followed by tire and wheel removal. A heavy mechanic wire or equivalent should be used to brace the brake caliper after removal when the hydraulic flexible brake hose stays connected to avoid flexible brake hose damage and brake fluid leaks. By following the proper support process for the caliper you can remove it while the brake hose stays connected. Begin by marking where
Brake Pads need to go for later installation. Move on to remove the brake pads together with their springs followed by Brake Caliper Bracket mounting bolts and finally the bracket. Installation starts with Brake Caliper Bracket placement followed by complete removal of original adhesive residue and bolting threads cleaning with denatured alcohol. Wait for them to dry before applying threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488). Before bolt installation, apply threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the mounting bolt threads. Secure the bolts with a torque of 200 n.m (148 lb ft). Place Brake Pad springs and brake pads where you removed them before moving on. Put the brake caliper onto the bracket first before putting back the tire and wheel assembly and topping up the master cylinder reservoir with clean brake fluid if needed.
