You must begin replacement of the Evaporator core by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by refrigerant recovery through a/c refrigerant recovery, recycling and recharging (ACR4) system (J 39500-B). Drop the engine and Transmission Assembly before disconnecting both the accumulator tube and Evaporator tube from the Evaporator core. The installer should start by removing the Blower Motor followed by the Evaporator core rubber barrier cover and Evaporator core cover and then removing the Evaporator core itself. The installation sequence starts with new Evaporator core while the Evaporator core cover requires 5 n.m (44 lb ft) screw torque before installation. Secure the Evaporator core rubber barrier cover with screws that reach a torque value of 5 n.m (44 lb ft). Connect both the Evaporator tube and accumulator tube onto the Evaporator core before installing the engine and Transmission Assembly. The a/c system requires recharging after which a leak test should be conducted with an electronic halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
