How to replace the engine coolant thermostat on Cadillac DTS?

Start replacing the engine coolant Thermostat by removing the air cleaner first. Per established procedure drain the cooling system. Follow the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) instructions to shift the radiator outlet hose clamp position at the Thermostat Housing before removing the hose from the housing. After removing the housing bolts, dismantle the Thermostat Housing along with its components from the water pump housing and dispose of the old gasket. Put the new Thermostat Housing gasket into the water pump housing before adding the Thermostat and finally the Thermostat Housing. Loosen the Thermostat Housing bolts before installing them again at 10 nm (89 lb in) torque setting. Secure the radiator outlet hose at the Thermostat Housing while placing its clamp in position using hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Pour coolant into the system and tighten the air cleaner into its proper place.
