In order to replace the heated Oxygen Sensor - bank 2 sensor 1, handle the oxygen sensors with care not to cause damage, so keep the electrical connector and exhaust inlet end free from any contaminant while avoiding the use of cleaning solvents. To ease the removal process, remove the heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) when the engine temperature is over 48°c (120°F). First, you need to remove the air deflector, subsequently disassemble the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer. Remove the engine harness electrical connector from the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S), remove the ho2s clip from the engine bracket, and take out the ho2s. During reusing of the old ho2s, coat the threads with an anti-seize compound, gm p/n 12377953 or equivalent, before installation. Need to tighten the sensor to 41 nm (30 lb ft), reconnect the engine harness electrical connector to the ho2s, installing the cpa retainer and, at last, the ho2s clip to the engine bracket. Finally, reinstall the air deflector.
