  The procedure for Fuel Level Sensor assembly replacement starts by draining fuel system pressure while removing the rear compartment liner. Begin by removing the two bolts which secure the Fuel Level Sensor access hole cover followed by removing the cover itself. First disconnect the quick-connect fitting of the fuel feed rear pipe from its module then remove connector (1 and 2) from wiring harnesses on the pressure sensor and module. Route the fuel feed pipe along with its connectors by the side and mount the j 45722 (J 45722) onto the lock ring. Apply the j 45722 along with a long breaker bar to the fuel module lock ring while turning it clockwise counterclockwise to unlock it while cautioning against damaging the ring. Approach the operation with care while the fuel module assembly will rise up because slight tilting of the reservoir bucket is required while removing objects to prevent float damage. The worn o-ring of the fuel module assembly and fuel from the reservoir bucket should be discarded in a proper container. Measure the lock ring clearance for warpage before module installation because replacements are needed when measurements reach more than 0.41 mm (0.016 in). Install a new fuel pump module o-ring seal onto the Fuel Tank before tilting the module to slip through the tank opening and finally lowering it into position. Thread the module locking ring onto the module before securing it with j 45722 (J 45722) by rotating it clockwise to achieve full lock position. Reinstall the j 45722 tool followed by connecting the electrical connectors of the Fuel Level Sensor wiring harness (1, 2) and applying the quick connect fitting to the fuel feed rear pipe. The technician should check for leaks while turning the ignition on and off by reconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Last of all, install and secure the Fuel Level Sensor access hole cover by tightening its bolts to 2 n.m (18 lb in). Finish by restoring the rear compartment liner and fuel injector sight shield.
