The next step involves removing the Heater Core cover using its fasteners and then using the Heater Core retaining fasteners to take off both the cover and retaining fasteners. After that, remove the Heater Core retaining straps and the Heater Core from the vehicle. Remove the Heater Core case seals according to the installation order. Install the new Heater Core first and then put on the Heater Core retaining straps while adding new Heater Core case seals. Install first the Heater Core retaining fasteners and torque them to 1.4 n.m (13 lb in) and then proceed to install the Heater Core cover fasteners also torqued to 1.4 n.m (13 lb in). The final sequence includes reinstallation of the instrument panel assembly followed by installing the heater hoses onto the Heater Core. The j 39400 halogen leak detector should be used as a part of this procedure.
