Before starting
Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring replacement make sure the working cylinder Piston reaches top dead center (TDC) which stops the valve from entering the cylinder. Start the repair by loosening the
Spark Plug while cleaning areas around the recess before you remove the plug. Move the
Rocker Arm out of the way so you can insert the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) into the Spark Plug port. Compressed air will hold the valves in position during installation. Use the valve spring compressor (J 38606) to squeeze the valve spring before moving forward. The valve lock must be removed first and then the valve cap and spring. Inspect the spring for damage at this time. Next install the new Valve Stem Oil Seal then add the valve spring followed by the valve cap. Put the valve spring compressor (J 38606) on again to compress the valve spring before you place the valve locks in position with grease where needed. Cargo the valve spring and check that valve locks have been correctly installed. Begin by removing the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) from the Spark Plug port then reinstall the Rocker Arm and the Spark Plug.
