The Buick Rainier Timing Chain is an important component that speaks volumes on the Buick Rainier which is a mid-size luxury SUV that was manufactured between 2004-2007. This metal Timing Chain is used in order to ensure proper functioning of the engines if the Camshaft and Crankshaft rotations are to be in harmony without the constant replacements as is the case with rubber Timing Belts. Despite the Buick Rainier's stylish body, the car's powertrain entails a 4.2 Ltr Vortec I6 engine and a more powerful 5.3 Ltr Small-block V8 engine, where both of these engines are loyal to the nicety of a Timing Chain, which also adds durability to efficiency. The Rainier controls these problems because of the car's highly technical engineering that eliminates problems commonly associated with lubrication and even tensioner issues that would cause the car's engine to emit sounds and lose performance. Thus, Buick Rainier successfully navigates the automotive market with its discreet power and reliability, 0-60 mph in 7.6 seconds with the V8 version included. Moreover, the Timing Chain's applicability all the Rainier models guarantees the owners get to enjoy the same degree of dependability and power, no matter the trim. Owing to enhanced safety facilities of all-disc antilock brakes and GM's StabiliTrak system, the Rainier has turned into a very safe car for families. Altogether, with the help of Buick Rainier Timing Chain, not merely the car performance is improved, but also, the car becomes more reliable and luxurious, and using it, the car owner will not be disappointed, indeed, the car should become one of the best options for selecioning an SUV.

Buick Rainier Timing Chain Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What tools are required to replace the timing chain, sprockets, or tensioner on Buick Rainier?
    A:
In order to replace the Timing Chain, sprockets, or tensioner, the following tools would be needed: torque angle meter (J 36660-A) and camshaft holding too (J 44221). First of all, you would need to remove the camshaft cover and the engine front cover. Relieve the tension on the Timing Chain by pulling the tensioner shoe inward and then insert a tee into the tensioner to keep the shoe in place. Unbolt the top chain guide bolts and the top chain guide, then the exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt and actuator, then the intake camshaft sprocket bolt and sprocket, the Timing Chain, and the crankshaft sprocket. After that, unfasten the cylinder head access hole plugs, the Timing Chain tensioner shoe bolt, the tension shoe, the Timing Chain tensioner guide bolts, the guide, the Timing Chain tensioner bolts and the tensioner itself. For installation, bolt up the Timing Chain tensioner with 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.), Timing Chain tensioner guide, and shoe with 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) and 26 nm (19 ft. Lbs.) respectively. Install the cylinder head access hole plugs and tighten to 5 nm (44 inch lbs). Apply the camshaft holding tool (J 44221) and have the camshaft flats up and the number 1 piston at the top dead center, then install the crankshaft sprocket and the intake camshafts into the Timing Chain aligning the dark link with the timing mark up. Feed the Timing Chain down through the head opening and then fit it onto the crankshaft sprocket, with it matching the timing mark. Mount the intake camshaft sprocket onto the intake camshaft, washer and bolt next. Install the exhaust camshaft actuator into the Timing Chain and so that the dark link matches the timing mark, then the actuator should be installed onto the exhaust camshaft so that it is fully advanced and the actuator bolt tightened up to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) on its first circuit, and then the torque angle meter (J 36660-A) used for the second or final angle shots of an extra 135 degrees done. Increase the intake camshaft sprocket bolt to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) using the first pass and the final pass using the torque angle meter (J 36660-A) of an additional 100 degrees. Replace the tee from the Timing Chain tensioner, then use the camshaft holding tool (J 44221). Make sure the dark stripes on the chain run parallel to the markings on the sprockets, make sure the top chain guide is screwed onto the bolt with threadlock on the thread of bolts, tighten top chain guide bolts to 10nm (89 inch lbs). Lastly, it is time to shaft cover back on and the engine front cover.
