Built to complement the struts, the Shock Absorber reduces bobbing and effectively reduces shock oscillations enhancing the ride and handling of the 2005 to 2011 Buick Lucerne designs. The quality of the Lucerne when it comes to its reliability is further reinforced by the application of efficient shock absorber system that works with twin-tube and mono-tube constructions that removes and adjusts hydraulic fluid with high efficiency. For instance, the car shock absorber provides the PSD or Acceleration Sensitive Damping to change how the car reacts depending the kind of road the car is in. The Buick Lucerne also provides a high-class feel with its Magnetic Ride Control (MRC) technology, especially in the CXS trim level model, which relies on magnetically charged particles for the shock absorber's optimization in real time. With this innovation, the comfort and control get boosted up to the position of leadership in the Lucerne class. Moreover, as the safety device of the car, the Shock Absorber helps contribute to the aforementioned high crash test ratings of the car and its stability. Buick Lucerne Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the front coil springs and shock absorber on Buick Lucerne?
    A:
The vehicle must have its suspension strut removed before any service or repair operations can begin. After removing the strut from its vehicle, position it inside the strut spring compressor (J 45400). The forcing screw of the spring compressor should be twisted until the strut attains free movement while the spring stays compressed. A 45 torx(R) socket should maintain the strut shaft's position as you use the strut rod nut socket (J-35669) to extract the upper strut mount nut. The strut spring compressor (J 45400) enables strut removal after the strut leaves the tool. Subsequently tighten or loosen the forcing screw according to spring and upper strut mount clearance requirements. Position the coil spring together with upper strut mount inside the strut spring compressor (J 45400) before compressing the spring again. Collar the strut to the coil spring and upper strut mount before you install the strut retaining nut loosely. Seat the strut rod nut socket (J-35669) on the upper strut mount nut while using a 45 torx(R) socket to maintain strut shaft stability before tightening the mount nut to 75 n.m (55 lb ft). After removing the strut from the strut spring compressor (J 45400) reposition it in the vehicle.
  • Q: How to replace the front shock absorber assembly on Buick Lucerne?
    A:
To replace the strut assembly, you need first to remove the strut mount retaining bolts. Next, lift the vehicle up and take the tyre and wheel off. Remove the abs front wheel speed sensor harness connector, and in case applicable, also remove the speed sensor bracket from the strut. Retaining the knuckle is important after removing the strut to knuckle bolts in order to avoid damage of the Ball Joint or wheel drive shaft when working on it or lifting the car. Next, take off the Brake Line bracket from the strut which is on the left-side then take off the strut to the knuckle bolts and the nuts then remove the strut from the vehicle. To install, lower the vehicle and insert the strut back into the slot. Make sure to snug - up strut mount to body bolts to 47 nm (35 lb ft). Lift the vehicle again and put the strut to the steering knuckle bolts and nuts and tighten the struts to the knuckle nuts to 147 nm (108 lb ft). Connect the Brake Line and retaining bolt to the strut and, if necessary, attach speed sensor bracket and retaining bolt and tighten to 17 nm (13 lb ft). Reconnect the abs front wheel speed sensor harness connector, reassemble the tire and wheel assembly, lower the vehicle, and a front wheel alignment must be done.
