- Q: What tools are required to service and repair the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and Valve Stem Oil Seal on the right side on Buick LaCrosse?A:The necessary tools for valve guide seal repair work on the right side include en46106 flywheel holding tool and j39313 Spark Plug port adapter plus en46110 on-vehicle valve spring compressor and en46116 valve stem seal remover/installer. Start the process by taking off the Starter motor while placing the en46106 in position which stops crankshaft rotation to avoid redoing Camshaft timing system work. Disconnect the camshafts and Rocker Arms before extracting the Spark Plug from the specified cylinder. Place the j39313 part on the cylinder and join it to an air compressor. Clamp the en46110 above the cylinder and turn the valve spring compressor nut. Turn off the valve keepers while unscrewing the valve spring compressor cap to remove both the valve spring retainer and valve springs. Put the en46116 tool into the valve stem seal to extract it. For installation apply the en46116 first to put in the new valve stem seals then set the valve spring and retainer. Install the en46110 tool above the valve spring and fasten its nut before fitting the valve spring keepers on. Separate all parts of the en46110 while disconnecting j39313 from its air supply and also removing j39313. After placing the spark plugs and rocker arms in the engine, put in the camshafts and take out the en46106 tool before putting back the Starter motor.

Put the en-46106 holding tool on first to stop Crankshaft movement and connect a compressed air source using j-39313 (Spark Plug Port Adapter) to the Spark Plug opening. Put the en-46110 (On-Vehicle Valve Spring Compressor) in position above the affected cylinder and secure its nut. Release the valve stem retainers then ease the compressor nut to remove valve spring retainer along with the spring. To take out the valve stem seal you need to use the en-46116 seal removal tool. Use the en-46116 to put new valve stem seals properly before adding the valve spring and retainer assembly. Place the en-46110 compressor above the valve spring then tighten its nut. Finally install the valve spring keepers. Take out the compressor while disconnecting the j-39313 to air supply and pulling out the adapter. Reinstall all spark plugs plus rocker arms while putting back the Starter at the end of your work using en-46106 tool.
