The replacement of underhood electrical center or junction block requires starting with disconnection of the negative
Battery Cable. The procedure begins with releasing the remote positive Battery Cable stud cover while repositioning it afterward. Subsequently remove the nut from this same cable lead that connects to the underhood accessory wiring junction block before moving the cable lead away from the junction block. First disconnect the coolant recovery tank hose retainer from the junction block before letting go of the 4 tabs holding the junction block to its retainer for block repositioning. The technician disconnects individual connectors from the junction block both for the instrument panel (I/P) wiring harness and loosens the bolts connecting engine and i/p and forward lamp wiring harness connectors before separating engine wiring harness, i/p wiring harness, and forward lamp wiring harness connectors from the junction block. The accessory wiring junction block retainer can be detached through a procedure involving releasing positive Battery Cable lead retainers from the junction block retainer, taking off the nut retaining the junction block retainer to the strut tower and lifting the junction block retainer to release its lower tab. The junction block retainer installation requires placing it against the strut tower then inserting its lower tab into the tower slot before securing the junction block retainer to the strut tower nut by torquing it to 3 n.m (27 lb in). Lead the positive Battery Cable through the slot of the junction block retainer while securing the retaining cables. Fasten the forward lamp wiring harness connector with the i/p wiring harness connector and Engine Wiring Harness Connector to the junction block by securing the retaining bolts at 7 n.m (62 lb in). Attach all i/p wiring harness individual connectors to the junction block then position the wiring harnesses with the accessory wiring junction block into the junction block retainer before aligning the 4 retaining tabs for block retention. First attach the retainer of the coolant recovery tank hose to the junction block before you install and tighten the positive Battery Cable lead to the junction block stud to a torque of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Place the remote positive Battery Cable stud cover while connecting back the negative Battery Cable.
