When calibrating the brake pedal position sensor after repairing either the sensor or the bcm, do not apply the brake pedal because any movement will cause calibration failure and require you to try again. First, pull up the parking brake and set the gear shift to park. With the scan tool (J-46079), purge all dtcs from the bcm before proceeding to the vehicle control systems menu, selecting module setup, picking the bcm, and then running the bpp sensor calibration procedure on-screen to complete the calibration that sets the sensor value for the bcm to read reliable brake signals.
