The first step for replacing the rear object sensor requires disconnecting the electrical connector attached to it. Lift the housing locking tabs to remove the sensor after disconnecting electrical cables. Installing a new sensor requires discarding previous paint on the sensors because surplus paint accumulation will lead to sensor inoperability. Basecoat/Clearcoat systems should be used to paint the rear object sensor while checking for a maximum thickness of 6 mils with a suitable non-ferrous metal paint thickness gauge. A silicone decoupling ring needs installation on the sensor because it protects against sensor breakdown.
