How to disconnect and reconnect the negative battery cable on 2010 GMC Sierra 1500?

To remove the battery negative cable, first turn off any lamps, and accessories then turn the ignition off and open the hood. Unscrew the negative cable nut and move the negative Battery Cable back from the battery. For connection, clean off any existing corrosion from battery terminal and the end of the Battery Cable, then align the negative Battery Cable to the battery. Attach the negative Battery Cable to the battery terminal and tighten the negative cable clamp nut to 5 nm (44 lb in) with the hood closed.
