The crankshaft balancer requires removal as the first step before fixing the crankshaft front oil seal. During this operation avoid hurting the engine front cover and crankshaft assembly. A suitable tool must be used to pry out the crankshaft front oil seal which should be discarded after removal. The outside diameter of the new crankshaft front oil seal requires engine oil before its installation. The Front Seal Installer (J 45951) should fully seat the new seal before you remove this tool from the installation site. Finally, reinstall the crankshaft balancer.
