Changing the Impala front side door outside handle requires first opening the window to its highest position followed by removal of the front door trim panel. You should start by safeguarding the surrounding area against paint damage before removing the front water deflector. First apply masking tape around the outside handle before exposing the lock clip on the door lock by opening the outside door handle rod. Then remove the lock cylinder rod from the outside door handle. Take all bolts out which secure the outside handle by removing the access tape on the inner door panel. Next separate the door from its outside handle together with its attached rod. When reinstalling place the outside handle and the rod on the door while firming the outside handle bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in). First put back the outside handle bolt access tape to the inner door panel. Then add the lock cylinder rod to the outside door handle. Start by placing the outside handle rod inside the clip after which close the clip cover over it. The outside handle must be checked for proper functionality before removing the masking tape and reattaching first the front door water deflector then the front door trim panel.
