  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module with JL4 on 2010 Chevrolet HHR?
    A: To replace brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) with jl4, the Ignition Switch should be off when disconnecting the wiring harness connector from ebcm/ebtcm in order to prevent damage. Start with the removal of the cover from the ecm and tcm, and subsequently, clean ebcm to bpmv area and also brake pipe fittings. After that, disconnect the ebcm electrical connector, master cylinder primary and secondary brake pipe fittings and capping and plugging the bpmv inlet port to avoid fluid loss. Then, remove the lf, rf, rr, and lr brake pipe fittings, capping, and plugging the bpmv outlet port of each to prevent contamination. Pull off the bpmv bolt and gently raise the brake control module assembly straight off the bpmv bracket insulators without prying on the accumulator covers. If a new bpmv is to be installed then ebcm has to be removed. For installation, for a new used bpmv, install ebcm and attach brake control module assembly to the bpmv bracket, making sure that the mounting pins are fully admitted. Use bpmv bolt and tighten it to 11n/97lb in. Connect the lr, rr, rf, lf, master cylinder secondary and primary brake pipe fittings tighten to -21 nm (15 lb ft). Reconnect the ebcm connect, replace ecm and tcm covers, and bleed hydraulic brake system. Program the ebcm and carry out a diagnostic system check - vehicle. After the check, take note of the brake pedal feel; in case it is spongy, do the antilock brake system automated bleed procedure.
