2010 Chevrolet Aveo Brake Drum Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the brake drum on 2010 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: Release the parking brake then push the Brake Pedal 10 times before starting the Brake Drum replacement. Use vehicle support equipment to lift the vehicle while you disconnect the wheel and tire from the rear section. Take out the Brake Drum screws from their positions then lift the Brake Drum away from the hub. Thoroughly clean brake parts and test the drum for defects by replacing it if necessary. Use lubricant on the adjuster assembly parts and test how freely its threads rotate. Fix the rear brakes first before you put on the Brake Drum over the hub. Set the brake screws into the drum parts and tighten them until they reach 4 nm (35 lb in) torque. Put back the rear tire and wheel unit and lower the car. When no clicking sound comes from both brake drums during the adjustment process the space between brake shoes and Brake Drum needs further adjustment. Press the Brake Pedal 10 times to change the clearance until the adjuster assembly sound disappears from both brake drums. Finally, adjust the park brake.
