2009 GMC Savana 1500 Wheel Bearing Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the front wheel bearing, hub, and seal on a 4WD on 2009 GMC Savana 1500?
A: You need to lift and stabilize a 4wd vehicle before replacing its front Wheel Hub components. First detach the tire and wheel and then let the rotor go. Unbolt the Wheel Hub retaining parts consisting of axle cap and driveshaft nut with washer. Unfasten the wheel driveshaft from its hub connection with the j 45859 (Axle Remover). Drill out the Wheel Speed Sensor bolt and detach the Wheel Speed Sensor from the Wheel Hub and bearing. Afterward you need to loosen and remove the Wheel Hub and bearing bolts before taking out the Wheel Hub and bearing assembly along with the splash shield from the Steering Knuckle. Add Wheel Bearing grease to the Steering Knuckle bore after you remove all corrosion and contamination from it. Secure the Wheel Hub and bearing assembly with the splash shield into place on the Steering Knuckle and fasten mounting bolts to 180 nm torque (133 lb-ft). Secure the Wheel Speed Sensor to its place by adding its mounting bolt and tightening it to 18 nm (13 lb ft). Put on the wheel driveshaft retaining nut and washer first before clamping it to 210 nm (155 lb ft). Subsequently align the front axle hub cap. After replacing both parts put them back into position as you lower the vehicle.
