Prevent the engagement of battery voltage with the metal case of the control module to protect it from damage while refraining from handling both connector pins and soldered components to evade electrostatic discharge. Thoroughly clean the control module connector surfaces before inspecting gaskets which must be correctly installed to stop pollution from entering the system. The replacement process requires scanning tools to retrieve information about engine oil life. When the replacement method is not programmed the tool will set residual oil life at 100 percent leading to an unnecessary oil change after 5,000 km (3,000 mi). Disconnect the battery negative cable while you disengage both upper and lower electrical connector retainers from the ecm before removing it. To install the product position the bottom ecm tabs into the bracket then push the ecm into its place while securing both upper and lower electrical connector retainers. Complete the installation by reattaching the negative Battery Cable while performing ecm programming if you put in a recently acquired ecm.
