2009 Chevrolet Impala Vehicle Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor on 2009 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The first step to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor is to lift the car and position it safely. Unbolt the tire from the right front wheel position. Unplug the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector and unscrew its bolt to take out the VSS and extension case together. Unscrew the VSS O-ring seal before removing the VSS unit. After mounting the O-ring to the VSS you can attach the VSS to its base. Handle fasteners carefully to prevent possible vehicle harm. Firmly bolt the VSS into position by tightening the bolt to 12 Nm (106 lb in). Plug back the VSS electrical connector. After lowering the vehicle put back both the tire and wheel into their correct position.
