  A: Begin replacement of the door latch release switch on the passenger side only after turning off the ignition. Start the procedure by removing the door trim panel before moving on to the inner energy absorber on the door panel. The next procedure requires removing 4 retaining screws found at the rear of the armrest followed by a single retaining screw at the forward end of the armrest assembly. First detach the armrest wire harness then remove the armrest assembly before you can remove the armrest pull trim cover and free its retainers. You must first take off the trim cover applique by removing each retaining screw until you can place the applique aside from the armrest. Before installation you need to remove the door latch release switch from its position on the armrest trim cover applique. The installation process begins with attaching the door latch release switch to the armrest trim cover applique followed by its reinstallation on the armrest. Fasten retaining screws on the trim cover applique until they reach 2 nm (18 lb in) then push the trim cover onto the armrest so the retainers activate. The Door Armrest assembly wire harness can be connected and the armrest should be secured to the door trim panel by tightening 4 rear retaining screws and 1 forward retaining screw to 10 nm (89 lb in). After replacing the door panel inner energy absorber you should put on the door panel and finish with reinstalling the trim panel.
