- Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2009 Cadillac STS?A: There are many steps involved in replacing the Oil Pan: start with removing the engine splash shield and the engine front cover. Followed by, remove the Engine Mount lower nuts without detaching the a/c pipes and hoses. Loosen the A/C Compressor bracket bolts and take it aside and empty the engine oil. Remove the transmission oil cooler pipe retainer off the left side of the engine, the radiator output hose bracket bolt and bracket as well. Mount the engine support fixture and do not tighten the wing nuts to establish clearance for the Oil Pan. If equipped, dismount the front differential carrier. Move on to take off the Oil Pan, dismantle it if needed, and clean it and examine it. In installation, make up the Oil Pan depending on the need and install it, and if necessary reinstall the front differential carrier. Loosen the engine support fixture wing nuts to allow the engine to be lowered and fixed into the frame using the engine mounts. Mount the radiator outlet hose bracket and secure the radiator outlet hose bracket bolt at 25 nm (18 lb ft). Unhook the engine support fixture and the transmission oil cooler pipe retainer. Install new engine oil in the engine; install the A/C Compressor bracket and A/C Compressor; tighten the Engine Mount lower nuts. Lastly, install the front cover of the engine as well as the engine splash shield.
