  A: The initial step before changing the air conditioning Evaporator thermal expansion valve consists of removing the hvac module. Discard the insulation material which wraps the thermal expansion valve (TXV) after you remove it. Start the replacement by removing the hvac line clamp screw followed by the hvac line clamp. After that disconnect the bolts which hold the txv to the Evaporator. Pull the txv straight out from the Evaporator core by detaching the txv line bracket while separating it from the a/c lines. Start by lubricating the o-rings before inserting the a/c lines through the txv and sliding the txv onto the Evaporator core until proper positioning. After installation of the txv line bracket use caution to follow fastener guidelines. Affix the txv to the Evaporator using bolts which should be tightened to 3.5 nm (31 lb in). Afterwards return the hvac line clamp and secure its screw to 1 nm (8 lb in). After reinstalling the hvac module technicians should put new insulation on top of the lines and txv.
