How to replace the shock absorber (W/F55) on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?

The replacement of front Shock Absorber (W/F55) begins by disconnecting the esc harness connector of the front shock and then safely lifting and supporting the vehicle. Take out the tire in addition to the wheel assembly. The upper shock shaft integrates with the esc connector through sealing mechanisms; therefore, shock replacement becomes essential when shock shaft damages occur. Hand tools alone are sufficient to detach the upper shock shaft mounting nut followed by the insulator retainer and insulator before proceeding with removal of the Shock Absorber lower mounting bolts and nuts. A pry bar must compress the Shock Absorber from below until it reaches its maximum height before inserting the shock support tool (J 43822) when the Shock Absorber remains in a compressed state. First remove the Shock Absorber from the vehicle before dismounting the shock support tool (J 43822) from the absorber then proceeding to remove the insulator and its retainer. The procedure to install these parts starts with fixing the shock support tool (J 43822) to the Shock Absorber before adding the insulator and insulator retainer. Place the Shock Absorber inside the upper shock support and the lower Control Arm while installing the insulator and its retainer followed by the nut on the shaft and torque it to 26 n.m (19 lb ft). Install the transverse spring compressor (J 33432-A) to compress the coil spring after the removal of shock support tool (J 43822) from the Shock Absorber. Position the lower Control Arm to the Shock Absorber lower mounting point before installing bolts and nuts while tightening the nut to 28 n.m (21 lb ft). End by taking out the transverse spring compressor (J 33432-A) from the coil spring. Afterward, install the tire and wheel assembly, let the vehicle drop and reattach the esc harness connector while testing its secure connection through light pulling on the connector.
