2008 Chevrolet Aveo Shift Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the floor shift cable on 2008 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: The replacement of the floor shift control cable begins by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. First disconnect the negative Battery Cable and remove floor console accessories. After that loosen the adjuster nut then separate the shift control cable from the lever assembly parts. You should first remove the shift control cable retaining e-ring and then disconnect the cable from the park/neutral position (PNP) switch. The shift control cable requires the removal of its e-ring from the bracket and also the separation from the fastener before taking it out of the vehicle. The first step of installation requires installation of the new shift control cable before you link it to the fastener. When installing proceed with the following sequence: connect the cable first to pnp switch then to shift control cable retaining e-ring which also enables connection of shift control lever assembly. Tighten the adjusting nut of the cable until it reaches 8 n.m (71 lb in) and replace the floor console trim panel after installation. The procedure ends with Battery Cable negative connection.
