How to replace the lower control arm on 2008 Cadillac XLR?

First, raise and support the vehicle to replace the lower Control Arm. Take off the tire and wheel assembly. Farther along, carry out with the extraction of the front transverse spring using the transverse spring remover (J 33432-A). Remove the electrical connection from the Wheel Speed Sensor, then take away the shock absorber and the stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm. If necessary, unbolt the ball joint stud nut and separate the lower ball joint stud and the Steering Knuckle using the ball join separator (J 42188). Radically take out the ball joint stud from the Steering Knuckle after removing the ball joint separator (J 42188) and the ball joint stud nut. Make note of the position of the cam bolts for subsequent restoration, removing the cam bolts, washers, and nuts that hold the Control Arm to the crossmember, and extraction of the lower Control Arm from the vehicle. Apply installation by placing the new lower Control Arm into position, fit the cam bolts, washers and nuts while making sure the cam bolts are inserted as indicated when disassembling. Tighten the cam bolts without torque specifications at this point, support the lower Control Arm with a jackstand. Mount the lower ball joint stud to the Steering Knuckle while mounting the lower Control Arm ball joint stud nut and tighten to 30 n.m (20 lb ft) + 180 degrees (possibly using an allen wrench as the stud could spin). Next, fix the stabilizer shaft link to the lower Control Arm, making sure you tighten the link nut to 72 n.m (53 lb ft). Reinstall the front transverse spring and pull off the spring compressor tool (J 33432-A). Attach shock absorber to the lower Control Arm, securing the lower mounting nuts with 28 n.m (21 lb ft), then attach Wheel Speed Sensor harness. Reattach the jack stands, replace the tire and wheel assembly, lower the vehicle, and do a front wheel alignment, tightening the lower control cam bolt nuts to 170 n.m (125 lb. Ft).
