How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for Side Impact on 2008 Cadillac STS?

The first step for installing a new Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor (SIS) is to disable the SIR system. Set the seat in its maximum forward position while you take out the inner pillar trim panel. First remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the SIS harness connector and afterward disconnect the SIS harness connector. First disconnect the SIS fasteners then extract the SIS from the center pillar position. Always clean the mounting area before installing the new SIS inside the center pillar. Fasten the SIS mountings to the center pillar with a torque setting of 9 N.m (80 lb in). First reattach the harness connector to the SIS and insert the installed CPA back to its port on the SIS harness connector. Finish the procedure by replacing the center pillar trim then pushing the seat back to its original setup. Finally, enable the SIR system.
