  A: The first step to remove and replace the air bag clock spring assembly / spiral cable would be to disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Then take out knee bolster, and steering column trim covers. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil electrical connectors and the electrical harness from the steering column wiring harness. Recover the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil retaining ring from the upper Steering Shaft and later remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel money people coil. If necessary, remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil washer. For installation align the block tooth with the upper Steering Shaft to the 12 o'clock position, then install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil washer if removed. Make sure the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil is centered as it can uncentered if the steering column was separated from the steering gear or if the spring service lock is pushed down. Adjust and install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil to the turn signal switch cancel cam on the steering column, then remove and discard inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil centering tab, if equipped.
