2007 GMC Sierra 1500 Pushrod Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the pushrod and valve rocker arm on 2007 GMC Sierra 1500?
A: A successful replacement of valve Rocker Arm and push rod begins by marking and sorting all components for assembly. Commence the replacement by taking off the Rocker Arm cover followed by the removal of rocker arms and Rocker Arm supports then proceeding to the pushrods. Inspect all rocker arms simultaneously with their corresponding pushrods for any necessary cleaning tasks. Correct placement of pushrods requires them to go into position with the arrow side facing upwards on the Rocker Arm support. Install the Rocker Arm supports while applying the correct lubricant to the Pushrod socket and roller pivot and valve stem tip according to the part number for appropriate sealers and adhesives and lubricants. Use hand power to start new bolts at locations , and first and then tighten the remaining Rocker Arm bolts. The crankshaft balancer requires rotation for proper alignment until the crankshaft balancer alignment mark faces within 57-63 degrees from the engine front cover alignment tab in either clockwise or counterclockwise directions. After installing and torquing the rocker arms they will continue to function without needing further adjustment of valve lash. The last step includes securing the Rocker Arm bolts at 30 n.m (22 lb ft) strength and replacing the Rocker Arm cover.
