2007 Chevrolet Impala Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Brake Master Cylinder on 2007 Chevrolet Impala?
A: First you should lock down the mounting flange in a bench vise while giving you full access to the back side of the primary Piston. Put suitable exporter ports on the master cylinder after taking off its reservoir cap and diaphragm installation. Connect transparent hoses to the matching master cylinder fittings and lead them into the reservoir space. Pour delco supreme 11(R) brake fluid p/n 12377967 or an equivalent product to the reservoir until it reaches its middle mark while fully immersing the hose ends into the clean fluid container. Use a rounded tool to push and release the primary Piston down 25 millimeters (1 inch) several times. See fluid come out of its ports while doing this. When the primary Piston is pressed but air is released from both pistons the force needed increases and the Piston travels less distance. Draw fluid through the ports until the ports produce smooth liquid flow without any air bubble interference. At the end push the transparent hoses out of the reservoir while putting back the master cylinder reservoir cap and diaphragm before disconnecting the fittings and wrapping the master cylinder in a clean cloth to stop accidental spills. Take the master cylinder out of the vise after completing all steps.
