The replacement of the Exhaust Heat Shield requires removal of the Catalytic Converter first. The hanger insulators receive a mist of lubricant before the exhaust hanger insulators can be separated from underbody exhaust hangers and the Muffler assembly can be lowered. Begin by drilling out and removing the 4 heat shield rivets before taking out the heat shield nut and heat shield from its position. Secure the underbody-exhibited Exhaust Heat Shield by placing it into position before attaching its Exhaust Heat Shield nut and tightening it to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Install 4 new heat shield rivets together with lubricant application to the hanger insulators making installation easier. After raising the Muffler assembly you must install the exhaust hanger insulators onto underbody exhaust hangers before reinstalling the Catalytic Converter.
