2007 Chevrolet Aveo Coil Springs Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How should you safely replace the rear coil springs to prevent personal injury on 2007 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: When changing the rear coil-springs, do not use a twin-post type hoist that will cause the rear axle assembly to slip and sometimes result in personal injury. To begin, lift and support the vehicle with a frame contact hoist, then support the rear control arms with jack stands. In case a twin-post hoist is utilized, lift body and control arms with the use of jack stands. Then, take off the wheel and the right and left Shock Absorber bolts. Reduce the rear axle in order to disconnect the springs and the upper insulator. Prior to installing the new springs, place the upper insulators onto the body with adhesive to hold them in place while lifting the axle assembly and springs. Install the upper insulator then lower the Bumper and install the springs and lift the axle. Re-install the shock absorbers with the axle assembly trimmed before closing the Shock Absorber connector bolts. Finally, re-install the wheel, remove jack stands, and lower the vehicle.
