2007 Cadillac XLR A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Rear A/C Hose on 2007 Cadillac XLR?
A: The first step to replace the air conditioning evaporator rear tube requires recovering refrigerant from the a/c system through the usage of the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). First disconnect the front evaporator inlet line both from the body retaining clip and the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector after removing the battery along with the Intake Manifold. Cap or tape the open a/c components to stop contamination during the separation of a/c tube connectors from the evaporator rear line assembly. Keep the front evaporator inlet line from the evaporator rear line assembly using caps or tape after removing and discarding its o-rings. The team disconnects the a/c compressor line from the evaporator rear line assembly and throws away the o-rings before capping or taping both the front evaporator line and a/c compressor line. The cowl stud requires removal of its heater pipe bracket retaining nut before proceeding to disconnect the evaporator rear line assembly from the txv block fitting nut and retainer bracket. Discard the seal washers during this process before reinstalling the assembly into the vehicle. The txv needs capping or taping as well as receiving pag oil directly when replacing its evaporator rear assembly. Replace all seal washers after you remove tape or cap from the txv before reattaching the evaporator rear line assembly onto the vehicle. The assembly proceeds with attaching the rear evaporator line to both the retainer bracket and the txv while torquing the txv block fitting nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft) and the heater pipe bracket retaining nut to 10 n.m (7 lb ft). First remove tape or caps from the front evaporator line and a/c compressor line and insert new o-rings to the rear evaporator line assembly before uniting the a/c compressor line and front evaporator line with the evaporator rear line assembly. The service technician must first reconnect the a/c tube connectors with the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector and finally install the front evaporator inlet line to the body retaining clip . Reinstallation follows of the Intake Manifold and battery after completing a/c system evacuation and recharging along with fitting leak testing through the usage of the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
