  A: Start the replacement of the Hood Cable by opening the hood then taking off the Hood Latch. Connect a string to the Hood Cable at its Hood Latch end to help the procedure in the engine area. The replacement process starts with removing three fasteners that link the hood release handle to the vehicle. The Hood Cable then needs to be disconnected from this handle. You should once again fasten string to the cable for better handling during installation. The installer removes the Hood Cable grommet out of the wheel opening followed by extraction of the Hood Cable outside of the vehicle. When ready to install the new Hood Cable the string should be moved to both ends of the new Hood Cable before guided into the passenger compartment until the string is removed. Insert the Hood Cable grommet into the wheel opening before attaching the Hood Cable to its handle. Fasten the handle to the vehicle frame by installing the three cross bolts while torquing them to 2 n.m (18 lb in). To install the Hood Cable you must pull the string while passing it across the engine compartment before removing the string and attaching the cable to the Hood Latch. Then install the Hood Latch while finishing with a hood closure.
