2006 Chevrolet SSR Seat Heater Pad Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the front Seat Heater Pad on 2006 Chevrolet SSR?
A: The replacement of the front seat cushion heater element starts with moving the front seat assembly out of the vehicle. Proceed with the removal of front finish panel followed by seat cushion outer trim panel then seat switch bezel. The front replacement begins by removing both j-strip and push pins securing the seat frame to the cushion cover. The seat belt buckle bolt requires unscrewing to access the black electrical connector which should be disconnected followed by pulling the harness through the seat adjuster assembly hole. Reach the seat belt buckle assembly through the slot in the seat cushion cover while removing two push pins which reside on each side of the seat cushion frame and freeing the front j-strip. The seat cushion heater electrical connection must be detached at first before the seat cushion cover and pad can be removed from the frame. The work requires removal of cover pad hog rings followed by pulling out the pad from the cover. The pad gets a heater element removal and the electrical harness of the heater element must be pulled through the pad's hole. First feed the heater element electrical harness through the hole in the pad followed by installation of the adhesive-backed heater element onto the pad. Lay the seat cushion onto the frame then fasten the seat cover onto the pad by using hog rings which encircle the rod in the cover. Slowly place the seat cushion cover onto the frame while swiping it from one side to the other until completion of the electric connection for the seat heater. Then, install the j-strip in the front section. Insert push pins to maintain the seat cushion cover on the frame followed by seat belt buckle assembly installation through the cover slot so tighten the bolt to 70 n.m (52 lb ft). Install the seat belt buckle electrical harness through the seat adjuster while connecting it to the seat belt buckle. Reinstall the seat switch bezel together with the seat cushion outer trim panel then the front finish panel before returning the front seat assembly back into the vehicle. Put push pins into the rear seat cover flaps and connect the j-strip frame attachment before reinstalling everything.
