How to replace the shift knob on 2006 Cadillac SRX?

As a replacement, an insertion of flat tool between the shift knob and trim ring is necessary followed by rotation to loosen the trim ring. Unscrew the retaining screw then remove the knob. Attach the new knob to the shaft, screw the retaining screw and reattach the trim ring.
