2005 GMC Sierra 3500 Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How to properly replace brake lines to ensure safety on 2005 GMC Sierra 3500?
A: Replace your brake pipes with double-walled steel variety and secure the new pipes through their original fasteners to stop brake system failure and prevent injuries. Set up brake pipes at least 6 mm apart from one another. Unclamp the brake pipe fittings from each pipe end followed by disconnecting the brake fasteners then pulling out the entire brake system. Form the new brake pipe to fit correctly before installing it with a minimum 19mm (3/4 inch) gap to all moving or vibrating parts. Secure the fasteners onto the brake pipe first and attach each fitting to either the BPMV or wheel jounce hoses for torque at 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) while setting the master cylinder connections to an equivalent torque. Complete the process by letting the hydraulic brake fluid exit all channels.
