2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace the A/C Hose in an Evaporator Tube System on 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: The first step for tube evaporator replacement requires refrigerant recovery and cooling system drainage. First disconnect the power connector from the Brake Fluid Level Sensor followed by the removal of brake pressure modulator valve bracket and air cleaner assembly. The Brake Booster receives two steps of preparation. First drain the engine vacuum line and unmount the Brake Booster master cylinder and nuts. The breaker j 38185 allows users to reposition the heater hose inlet and outlet clamps while they use it to disconnect the hoses from the heater pipes. Assess the coupling between the evaporator tube and receiver dehydrator tube after which the receiver dehydrator mounting bolt can be removed. The service technician should disconnect the receiver dehydrator from the evaporator tube and remove the block fitting nut securing the evaporator tube to the a/c compressor hose assembly before disconnecting the evaporator tube from the a/c compressor hose assembly. Disassemble the block fitting nut attaching the evaporator tube to txv before disconnecting the tube from the txv. The evaporator tube needs to be removed from its support clip on the left fender rail as well as from the transaxle fluid filler tube and the wire harness electrical connectors which must be detached from the a/c pressure sensor and c101 near the top of the left shock tower. The vehicle receives its evaporator tube and a/c pressure sensor removal procedure before discarding both the o-ring seals and the seal washers. To install the component replace the o-ring seal on both the receiver dehydrator and a/c pressure sensor before installing the sensor to the evaporator line with 4.7 n.m (41 lb in) torque. Reinstall the transaxle fluid filler tube subsequent to placing back the evaporator tube equipped with new seal washers into the vehicle. Secure the evaporator tube to the left fender rail support clip while connecting it to the txv unit before torquing the txv nut to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Reinstall the transmission Shift Cable while you connect the receiver dehydrator to the evaporator tube then install the a/c line coupling to the same two tubes followed by tightening the receiver dehydrator mounting bolt to 10 n.m (88 lb in). Fasten the block fitting nut of the a/c compressor hose assembly to the evaporator tube with 16 n.m (12 lb ft) torque force. The brake pressure modulator valve bracket should be installed first followed by the master cylinder to the Brake Booster before tightening the master cylinder nuts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). The procedure includes clamping heater pipes with hose clamp pliers (J 38185) for positioning clamps while connecting electrical connectors to brake fluid level sensors and installing the Brake Booster engine vacuum line. The next step involves connecting wire harness electrical connector c101 before reinstallation of the air cleaner assembly followed by evacuating and recharging the a/c and cooling systems and conducting a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) check of all component fittings.
