The process to replace the oil level indicator involves removing first the number 6 cylinder Spark Plug wire then unscrewing the bolt from the oil level indicator tube bracket before extracting the oil level indicator and tube sensor. Before installing the tube into the engine block, clean the indicator tube thoroughly then put gm p/n 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472) or equivalent sealant around the tube at a 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) distance below its bead. Begin by installing the bolt that supports the oil level indicator tube bracket and secure the bolt to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) torque before putting back the oil level indicator and reconnecting the Spark Plug wire to cylinder number 6.
