2005 Chevrolet Malibu A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in a Compressor Hose Assembly on 2005 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: The initial prerequisite for compressor hose assembly replacement demands the recovery of refrigerant. The compressor hose and suction line connector locks require two small screwdrivers to unlock them before pulling off both components from the suction line. Remove both o-rings from their places while also removing the compressor hose bracket bolt. First disconnect the air cleaner intake duct from the air cleaner assembly before raising the vehicle. Unfasten the right front fender liner followed by the right radiator air deflector retainers and deflector itself. Start by removing the compressor hose bolt together with the liquid line bolt from the condenser before you take out the compressor hose. The right lower radiator mounting bracket bolt needs removal along with its bracket before detaching the compressor hose nut from the compressor and the hose from the rail clip. The compressor line needs immediate discarding after cap sealing all a/c components before you throw away the sealing washers. After opening the a/c components you will install new sealing washers before securing the compressor line and attaching the compressor hose to the rail clip and the compressor hose to the compressor. Screw the compressor hose nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft) before installing the right lower radiator mounting bracket with its bolt which needs a torque of 60 n.m (44 lb ft). Firmly connect the compressor hose to the condenser by using the liquid line and compressor hose bolt then tighten it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Proper installation of all air deflectors on the radiator will preserve the vehicle's air conditioning and engine heat dissipation capacity before returning the right rear air deflector and its retainers and the right front fender liner. Return the vehicle to its normal height before installing the air cleaner duct between the air cleaner assembly and air cleaner intake. Attach new o-rings while connecting the compressor hose to the suction line and then finalize the compressor hose and suction line connector fixing. Complete the procedure by fit-torquing the compressor hose bracket bolt to 10 n.m (89 lb in) while conducting an evacuation and refrigerant fill-up procedure and executing a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) test.
