  A: Turn off the car using a tool around the Thermostat and pull up to remove it. Drain the coolant to a lower position than the Thermostat. Before removing the Thermostat, disconnect the fuel injector sight shield. Next, unscrew the crossover Exhaust Pipe and the Radiator Hose from the Thermostat Housing. Take off the Thermostat Housing bolts and clean any sealer off the bolt threads prior to undoing the Thermostat Housing and the Thermostat . Clean the mating surfaces of the place before fitting in the second Thermostat and the Thermostat Housing. Apply rtv sealer, gm p/n 12378478 (Canadian P/N 88900041) or an equivalent, to the Thermostat Housing bolt threads, and install the Thermostat Housing bolts with a torque of 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Reattach the Radiator Hose to the Thermostat Housing, then the crossover Exhaust Pipe and then put back the fuel injector site shield. Tidy up everything and inspect the cooling system for leaks and make repairs when needed.
