  A: The replacement process for the camshaft position (CMP) sensor starts with removing the generator bracket assembly before unfastening the Camshaft Position Sensor mounting bolts and finally removing the sensor assembly (4, 5, 6) from the front cover. First disconnect the engine harness connector then separate the Camshaft Position Sensor jumper harness from both harnesses before taking out the camshaft sensor assembly (4, 5, 6) and removing the Camshaft Position Sensor that was connected to the jumper harness. To install the components you must first connect the camshaft sensor then the jumper harness then position the o-ring on the camshaft sensor assembly (4 and 5). The front cover contains a clean motor oil application on the o-ring before installing the Camshaft Position Sensor assembly (4, 5, and 6) together with its engine harness connector. The mounting bolts of the Camshaft Position Sensor need to be tightened to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) before reinstallation of the generator assembly.
