How to replace the rear disc brake backing plate on 2005 Chevrolet Blazer?

You need to lift the vehicle and dispose of the tire and wheel to work on the Brake Backing Plate. Take off the park brake cable from the rear brake caliper before removing the brake caliper and bracket as a unit. Uninstall the rear brake rotor and park brake shoe before you can remove the rear drive axle. Use an appropriate tool to remove the rear axle housing retaining nuts then detach the backing plate. Mount the backing plate over the axle housing flange and bolt it in place with backing plate nuts at 68 nm (48 lb ft) torque. Install the rear drive components starting with the drive axle and ending with the brake caliper and bracket parts. Hook the park brake cable back to the brake caliper while setting the park brake shoe. After that, put the tire and wheel onto the vehicle and let it down.
